Web Hosting
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is basically an internet publishing service for websites.
How does web hosting work?
Websites are stored, or hosted, on large servers (high-powered computers). When somebody wants to visit a site, they enter the website address (domain name) into their internet browser, such as Google Chrome. This connects their device to the server where the site is located and the webpages are delivered through the browser. The web host rents space on the server to the website owner, in addition to providing other services such as support, malware scanning, backups and so on.
Do I need it?
In a word, yes! Every website has to be hosted somewhere. Without it, visitors won’t be able to view your webpages. Unless you have your own server, you will need to rent space from a web host.
How do I get my site hosted?
There are a huge number of web hosts available, which offer different prices and packages, meaning you could spend a lot of time trawling the internet looking for the right one for your needs.
Alternatively, to save you time, we can take care of your web hosting.
We’ll start by using our expert knowledge to advise what type of hosting would work best for your individual circumstances and arrange this directly with the host.
Once your hosting has been set up, we’ll carry out regular back-ups, monitor performance, deal with any technical issues, and assist you to set up email accounts.
As all our sites are hosted on a third-party cloud server, which utilises the power of a high-capacity data centre in the UK, you can rest assured that your website will deliver content at exceptional speeds.
How much does hosting cost?
We offer free hosting for one year with all of our web design packages. We also include free hosting with any of our support packages. Take a look at our maintenance plans for more information.
